I’m Free

Martin Luther King, Jr. in one of his speeches said, “I’m free, thank God, I’m free!” There are many people in this world who are not free. There are those who are bound by alcohol or drug addiction. Or pornography, sexual lust, hate, unforgivness, jealousy, anger, foul language, greed and so on. There are Christians who are bound by certain things. It’s very difficult to live the Christian life being bound by a bad habit or habits. It’s impossible to be bound by a bad habit and be living a victorious life at the same time. We don’t have the victory if we’re bound by bad or sinful habits. Being a Christian and having a sinful or bad habit is very common. Many Christians suffer in silence with a sinful habit and are too ashamed to say anything to anyone about it. But, there is hope! A person doesn’t have to suffer in silence with a bad, sinful habit! They can decide that they don’t want this habit in their life! They can confess the habit to the Father as sin and ask His forgiveness! They can begin to not allow this habit to have a foothold in their life! They can stop doing what they’re doing and make every effort not to keep doing it! They can daily decide not to do it! They can just say “NO!!!” And, keep saying, “NO!!!” Every time a person is tempted to sin, they should get out their Bible, and start reading it until the desire to sin leaves them! This should be a daily practice – Read the Word, Study the Word, Do the Word! In the Book of John, Chapter 8, Jesus said, “Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed.” A person can be free from any sinful, bad habit! Follow the steps mentioned above. And ultimately, ask Jesus to set you free from whatever it is that you are bound by! Don’t be bound by any bad, sinful habit! Get free and stay free! Some day you will be able to say, “I’m free, thank God I’m free!!!”
