This is a very controversial subject in the day and time we live in! There are gays who have accepted Christ as their Savior at one time or another in their lives and believe they will go to heaven when they die (the once saved, always saved doctrine!) Then, there are gays who don’t care one way or the other if they go to heaven because they don’t believe in God or Jesus or Christianity. Personally, I do not believe a person can be a Christian and not feel guilty about having sin in their lives! How can a true, born again Christian be living in sin or have sin in their lives and not feel guilty about it? Thus, the dilemma: There are professing Christians who believe that homosexuality is not a sin! Homosexuals, of course, do not believe homosexuality is a sin! So, is homosexuality a sin? Are homosexuals going to Heaven? Can a person be a homosexual and be a Christian at the same time? I grew up with homosexuals all around me. Back in the 50’s and 60’s, people didn’t discuss homosexuality, and, if a person was gay, they pretty well kept it to themselves. I was in theater in high school and college. It seems as if homosexuals are drawn to the arts, though that idea has not been proven to be an exact psychological fact. I have never judged gays, criticized them or put them down and tried to make them feel bad about themselves, though, I have shared Jesus with them and God’s plan of salvation. A number of years ago, the homosexual queen in Springfield Missouri called on me to come to his house and pray with him as he was dying of aids! I led him to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and conducted his funeral! There were somewhere around 200 gays and lesbians at his funeral and I had the opportunity to tell them all about Jesus’ love for them and how they could spend eternity with their friend! There wasn’t a dry eye in the place! Homosexuals need Jesus, period! A person cannot be a Christian and a homosexual at the same time! There is no such thing as a Homosexual Christian! There are some key Bible verses about homosexuality to understand the biblical view of gay relations. The most commonly quoted Bible verses are Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13, which state that it is an abomination for a man to lie with another man as he would with a woman. In Romans 1:26-27, Apostle Paul says that homosexuality is contrary to God’s natural order and results from rejecting God. Additionally, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 lists homosexuality as one of the sins that will prevent someone from entering the Kingdom of God. While the Bible is clear in its view of homosexuality, it is essential to remember that God loves all of his creation and offers forgiveness to those who repent and turn away from their sins.
