The Unpardonable Sin

In the King James Version of the Bible in Matthew Chapter 12 verse 31, the text reads: “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.” The word “blasphemy” means “to speak against.” In this verse, Jesus is saying that if we say something bad about a person or speak against a person, God will forgive us! He’s also saying that God forgives every sin known to man! He’s also saying that the only sin God does not forgive is when we speak against the Holy Spirit or say something negative about the Holy Spirit! What does that mean? If you read the entire context or setting of this verse, you will find that Jesus had been healing the sick and casting demons out of people! The religious leaders were standing nearby and said that Jesus was casting demons out of people by the power of satan! The leaders were attributing the work of the Holy Spirit as to have been from satan! They were “blaspheming” the Holy Spirit by saying that what He was doing was from the devil! For example: The “blasphemy of the Holy Spirit” is saying that “speaking in tongues” is from the devil! Anytime that the Holy Spirit is at work performing miracles, healing the sick, casting out demons, raising the dead (any signs, wonders or miracles) and people say that these happenings are from satan, THEY ARE BLASPHEMING THE HOLY SPIRIT!!! Jesus says, “They will not be forgiven.” REMEMBER – Jesus says every other sin will be forgiven, except this one! So, don’t go around saying that you have committed “THE UNPARDONABLE SIN,” when you really haven’t!!!
