I wonder how many times we have told God we were “sorry” for something we said that we shouldn’t have said, or done that we shouldn’t have done, or for going somewhere we shouldn’t have gone? Sometimes we say “we’re sorry” over and over again for the same thing! Why? First of all, because of guilt! We’re trying to remove the guilt we feel! When we are feeling guilt, that’s when we need to forgive ourselves! But, asking God to forgive us over and over again for the same thing means we don’t believe God forgave us the first time we asked! We need to believe that when we ask God to forgive us, He hears us and forgives us! God is the only person that we only need to say “I’m sorry” one time! When we tell God we’re “sorry,” for something, that’s the only time we have to ask Him! He forgives us and cleanses us, frees us from the offense, and let’s it go, never to be remembered again! So, when we mess up, we tell our Heavenly Father we are “sorry” and that’s it, that’s all we need to do, and we are forgiven and it’s forgotten by God for evermore! Then, if we are feeling guilt, we forgive ourselves, let it go, and KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!! (1st John 1:9; Mark 11:25-26; Psalm 103:1-5).
