Character

Some people are real characters, if you know what I mean? But, I’m mainly talking about character, the kind of person a person really is! Everyone has character. There is good character and there is bad character. There is no in between. A person is either a good person or a bad person. There are those who steal and there are those who don’t steal. There are those who lie and those who don’t. There are those who are hateful and those who are loving. Character is who a person really is, not who they want you to think they are. The world is filled with pretenders; people who pretend to be good, but are not good. For the most part, character is revealed by what a person does, not by what they say. For example, a couple of years ago I hired a tree trimmer to cut down a dead tree in our backyard. He “said” he would be done in one day. Three days later I was still trying to get him to come back and finish the job. After three weeks he finally completed his work. Then, I asked him if he would remove the stump. He “said”, sure. It’s been two years and the stump is still there. How would you rate his character? This is what I’m talking about. People are known by what they do, not what they say! A person who doesn’t keep their word has bad character. A person who takes advantage of others has bad character. A person who tries to control and manipulate others has bad character. Jesus said, “A good tree brings forth good fruit and by a person’s fruit you shall know them.” The question is, what kind of person are you?
